About Us
West L.A. Bird Club was founded in 1992. Our main focus is to provide a vital forum and setting for bird lovers in which members can gather together, and when possible, with their companion birds, to exchange avian information. The purposes of this club is to help all companion birds live happy, healthy, full lives, to help eradicate the crisis of abused, neglected and abandoned birds through public awareness, education, community outreach, and to assist needy avian species through philanthropic activities. In the context of these general purposes, the club shall be dedicated to increasing the understanding and improving the lives of companion avian species.
The club's goals are to increase the enjoyment of caring for our avian companions, to enhance public understanding as to the needs of companion birds and the joys of sharing their lives. We will work collaboratively with other organizations sharing a similar mission. One aim of this is to impact the lives of Los Angeles companion birds and their human partners in a positive manner through education, outreach, rescue, and conservation.
On a regular basis our club makes a monetary donation to a different parrot sanctuary in the United States to help defray medical bills for its parrot residents. We also have an annual toy drive where members are asked to contribute one new toy, and the Board of Directors contributes several new toys to this project. The bird toys are then distributed to a parrot sanctuary. West L.A. Bird Club is very proud of these contributions to and for the benefit of parrots that are not able to live with human companions.

The Mission of the West L.A. Bird Club is to help all compaion birds have happy, healthy, and full lives and to provide a vital community for bird lovers. We aim to do this by educating and informing companion bird caretakers on the best possible ways to treat, feed, and house their companion birds. Further, aware of the amount of abused and neglected birds nationally, the club realizes the importance of helping to eradicate this crisis through education, community outreach, and by helping abused birds directly wherever possible. West L.A. Bird Club does not discriminate; to us, all birds are created equal.
