Many birds are found by alerting the children in the neighborhood where the bird has been lost. Put up flyers and let the children know you need help finding the bird.

This evening I was at a park in Granada Hills, CA with my dogs. A parakeet kept flying right over me, and kept landing on the ground, trying to eat the grass. One of my dogs walked right over it, and it didn't even fly away. (Had that been a coyote, the bird would be dead!) I put my dogs in the car, and grabbed a blanket from my car and threw it on top of the bird. I took the bird home and gave it parakeet seed, and it ate it like it was starving.
I'm sure this is someone's pet. It is very tame. I will put up signs in my neighborhood, but thought I would circulate an e-mail too, on the off chance I could find the owner that way.
The potential owner must give me an accurate description of the bird, and must provide a picture and/or vet records of the bird. I will NOT send anyone a picture of the bird without first being given an accurate description.
If no owner is found within the next few weeks, I will re-home the parakeet. If anyone out there HAS a bird, and is looking to adopt another one, please contact me and let me know.

We now are starting to think that either she is inside the huge CityCenter Construction Site or that someone has her. The CityCenter Security said we could not search on site. Since Las Vegas visitors are from other areas, esp. S. CA, we are now seeking help in all directions to locate anyone who suddenly appears with a new, super tame Bare-eyed Cockatoo. I cannot begin to describe the devastation that is being felt with misplacing a beloved family member and a long term performance team member.

February 3, 2009 - Congo African Grey was found in Bellflower (between Clark & Bellflower Blvd a couple blocks north of the 91 freeway) at the beginning of February. She/he was VERY hungry. Ate a pear, fairly good- sized carrot and 10 grapes before I got to Mom & Dad's house to get it. Ate more after it got to my house. She/he seems friendly - likes to have head scritched. I haven't yet offered a finger to step up on since I'm not sure I'm ready for the possible bite. She/he has flight feathers, so I'm not sure how far she/he flew. Good News - This bird was found 2 blocks from his home on Saturday, August 16. He is now back home making up for his lost meals. TUESDAY, AUGUST 12 my adult military macaw flew out the door after being spooked by something. He just came to live with me a couple weeks ago from a neglectful home. He probably hasn't flown in at least 6 years and hopefully he hasn't gone far. He was last seen in Long Beach 90808 by Stevely Ave. and E. Premium St. next to El DoradoPark. He is only talkative sometimes and likes to say hello and the dog's name, Rusty. He is green and has been picking at his chest feathers so they are very ruffled. On Tues, August 8, I had a dusky Conure stolen at my store in Cypress. (Omar's Exotic Birds by Fran) It appears that it was just one person, although there was a father and two sons that came in before the bird was taken and they kept one staff member busy putting together a cage with a nest box. Another staff member was busy grooming. Unfortunately I was not there when it happened (I left 15 minutes before), and it happened at 3:07 pm. There is a video of the theft, there is a little bit of glare, but you can basically see the person taking the bird, then waiting for an opportunity to slip out the door. FOUND!!!! November 20, 2007 - November 19, 2007 - My GW Joe-Joe got out yesterday and flew off. He isn't supposed to be able to fly. Joey is a 2.5 year-old, male, Green Wing Macaw. He weighs 1373g. He has an extensive vocabulary. He has unusual blue wing feathers. They appear normal until you look at the part under the next feather, that section is colored bright pink. He is DNA'd, so I can have him tested if proof of township becomes a problem. He was lost on 11/18/2007, at 4:00 PM in Lancaster at 11th street East and Avenue K-8 in Antelope Valley. He was last seen flying low and to the south. He is not supposed to be able to fly, so there is a good chance he will be on the ground (I pray not) or in lower branches or bushes. I am especially worried because our nighttime low is in the low 40's and is only going to get colder. He was in an abusive home and doesn't trust people. It took me over 1 year to get him to let me touch him and I am currently the only one who can. So if you find him, please call and I will arrive immediately to get him. I love this bird greatly and have worked with for almost 2 years to get over his mistrust of humans. I have made great headway with him and it has been a joy to see. I cannot tell you or express how desperately I love him and want him back. His other flock-mates, Chadwick (Yellow-Collar Macaw) and Angel (Goffin's Cockatoo), also miss him greatly. Saturday May 26, 2007 @ 8:00 a.m. thieves used bolt cutters to remove the locks, then stole my sister's Congo African Grey and Blue and Gold Macaw parrots from her backyard. This has been a devastating event for my sister Sandi, since she is single and loves them like children. Both birds are attached to each other as their cages have been next to each other for the last 15 years. Sandi is very concerned about their stress levels because they are extremely attached to her and their environment. Because we believe that the thieves may sell them to unsuspecting buyers who won't be able to handle them, they may be sold again or be abandoned or become rescue birds. We are asking you to please save this letter so if in the future months when birds that may fit their description come across your path you would please contact us.
Roady - An African Grey has lived with Sandi for over 20 years and has never been sexed. She was full feathered and very healthy. Some of her favorite words "Sandi or Sandra" She whistles the Andy Griffin Show theme song and other names she calls are "Johnny, Major and Milo." She likes to imitate a rooster, peacock, hammer, telephone, mumble on phone, kitten, dog barking, moos like a cow (lives a on dairy), Whispers "Shhhh, be quiet!" Makes kissing noises, Donald Duck voice and giggles with Major.
Major - A Blue and Gold Macaw is 15 years old and has been raised by Sandi since she was 6 weeks old and was surgery sexed. Major was full feathered and healthy but can only be handled by Sandi. She does have a titanium band on her right foot, not sure if the number is still visible. She did lose a large number of feathers in the struggle when she was stolen. Her favorite phrases, "Milo, get the ball! and screams Milo's name. She screams the word "Mom" HI! HI! HI! "Grace, Out! Out! Out!" "Ouch, stop that!" And screams like a little girl (from the neighborhood). "Good boy, Major!" Our main concern is the birds' safety and getting them home as soon as possible with limit amount of stress. Red-lored Amazon found in the Valencia area. The bird is lost and living very well off the land. It will come and eat seeds, fruits, and veggies out of a bowl, but not until the person who found the bird goes back in her house. This bird seems to have no interest in socializing with the human who found him, but is perfectly willing to eat the food! FOUND: June 19, 2007 - A Military Macaw was seen this evening in a tall eucalyptus tree near the corner of 9th and Rimpau (near Los Angeles High School). He was loud as he peeled back the bark from tree branches. He flew off to the north (towards Hancock Park). A Military Macaw used to hang out in this tree five years ago. It might be the same bird, or it might be a coincidence.

Cockatoo found in the Reseda, California, area. Apparently the bird had been flying around the neighborhood, got tired, and someone was able to pick it up where it landed. It may be a Sulfer Crested. If you know of anyone who lost a Cockatoo, please contact the Webmistress.
